829: Who knew Ice could be so interesting?
In this episode, I was interested in the science of ice despite my best efforts…
Friends, friends, friends.
Welcome back to Teatime Reading where there are books in progress.
Who would think that I would write a review about a book about the science of ice? I heard Camper English on a podcast, and I was curious to see what his book would be about.
It turns out that The Ice Book was a deeply scientific book about the art of making clear ice. It was much less of a history lesson and much more of a chemistry lesson. Full of tactics, DIY gadgets, and strategy, The Ice Book was very much a guide to creating clear ice.
There was a lot of great photography, and fascinating artistic flourishes after getting to the clear ice.
Sometimes there just isn’t much to say. If you like cocktails, and you want to learn about the best ways to make ice more beautiful and consistent, this was a fun coffee table read.
It’s certainly a conversation starter.
